Marvel Zombies 4

Last year I looked at Marvel Zombies 1 and 2, and the Dead Days Prequel, all done by the same team of Kirkman, Philips, and Chung. These comics were set in a unique universe filled with zombie versions of Superheroes who had eaten their way through all of humanity in just a couple of days.

I’ve also covered Marvel Zombies 3, the first in the series to have a new creative team, this time led by writer Fred Van Lente, who would take the series in such a different direction that it was completely unrecognizable as even being part of the same series.

That story was set primarily in the main Marvel universe, known as Universe 616, and saw zombies supposedly from the zombie universe explored in the first two series attempt to invade the main Marvel universe so they could spread what they came to call “The Hunger Gospel” to superheroes in a new universe. MZ3 would establish a few other bits of continuity, as well. This would include the fact that regular humans could get infected and become zombified as well now. It also introduced us to ARMOR, a special organization designed to protect Earth from threats from other dimensions. Dr. Michael Morbius, the living vampire, and Jennifer Kale, a character from the Man-Thing series, would be among the heroes of Earth working for ARMOR and attempting to fight off the zombies. 

ARMOR headquarters would get overrun, though thanks to the Machine Man, they would all be stopped before they could make it out into the population at large. Well, all of them save for at least one, and that one then used the teleporters inside the ARMOR base in order to escape and teleport to some unknown location.

Morbius then announced that he would lead a group to track down the missing zombies, using a group of monsters, so we can have Monsters vs. Zombies. Well, zombies are monsters, so really monsters vs. monsters. But it’s fine. Whatever.

Marvel Zombies 3 ends suddenly right there so that Marvel Zombies 4 can pick up right where it leaves off, so if you want the rest of the story, then be sure to check out the video above!
